Around the age of seventeen, he began playing the piano and writing his own music. Soon after learning to play, Troy began recording his original music. Upon graduation from high school, Troy worked for grammy nominated musician Roger Hatfield at Music Cafe Recording in Warren, Ohio. Troy attended Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.
